Ladies Freeride Session 25

The freeride session that will be remembered forever!

Freeriding - the feeling of freedom, fresh powder under your skis and the unbridled joy of untouched descents. But alongside all the passion, there is also knowledge and responsibility. This is precisely why the Ladies Freeride Session was created - three unforgettable days in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, where everything revolved around freeriding fun, avalanche safety and the community of like-minded people.

I, Susanna Kirchgasser, was able to be part of this special experience with five other girls. Local guide Sabine Schipflinger knows the best freeride routes and used her experience to guide us safely to the best off-piste runs throughout the weekend.

Arrive, check in, get in the mood
As soon as I arrived at the Legauerhof, I could feel the special energy of this group - all girls who shared my passion for freeriding. After getting to know each other for the first time, some casual off-piste runs and a relaxed welcome evening with delicious food, it was clear: this was going to be a great weekend!
Sabine gave us an initial introduction to what to expect: Freeride action with a focus on safety training. Because without the right knowledge, even the best off-piste experience is worth nothing. We went to bed full of anticipation - the next day promised powder and valuable skills!

Powder & safety - the perfect mix

After a hearty breakfast, we hit the slopes with fresh energy. Sabine took us to a freeride area where we were not only able to refine our technique, but also deepen our knowledge of avalanche safety.
Equipped with the latest PIEPS products (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe), we got down to business: What to do in an emergency? How do you react in the event of an avalanche? Sabine used her extensive knowledge to explain how to search for buried victims quickly and efficiently - training that can save lives.
The emergency - training under real conditions
To consolidate our knowledge, Sabine recreated a realistic avalanche scenario. Buried rucksacks were used as simulated buried victims and we searched for them.

1️⃣ Make an emergency call
2️⃣ Searching for buried victims with avalanche transceivers
3️⃣ Pinpoint sounding
4️⃣ Quick and efficient excavation

The pulse was racing, the tension was palpable - but it was incredible to see how important teamwork and know-how are in a situation like this. Every move had to be right, every second could be crucial.
This training showed me once again: Freeriding means freedom, but also responsibility.

Freeride enjoyment & girl power

After the intensive safety session, it was time for what we had come for: Pure freeride euphoria! As a group, we rushed through untouched powder slopes, enjoyed the flow and pushed each other.
In between, we stopped time and again to enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery and celebrate the feeling of togetherness in this unique group. Laughter, powder, adrenaline - that's what we live for!
In the evening, we were spoiled with culinary highlights at the Legauerhof. A session full of adventure that lingers on.

Looking back on an unforgettable weekend

The three days at the Home of Lässig passed far too quickly, but the experiences remain. As well as gaining valuable knowledge about avalanche safety, we also made new friends and shared countless moments together.
Thanks to Moni Gasbichler, who captured the weekend with her camera, we can always remember this unique experience.
Freeriding is more than just skiing - it's a way of life. This session showed us that it's about so much more: safety, trust, team spirit and pure joy.
I am infinitely grateful to have been part of this special Ladies Freeride Session. Three days full of know-how, powder and girl power - a great experience that will stay with you forever.
