New construction of the Limberg 8-seater chairlift
The winter season of 2023/24 kicked off with the opening of the new Limberg 8-seater chairlift on the Schattberg mountain. This significantly longer lift replaces the 1994-built Limberg 4-seater chairlift.
In a way, the construction of the new Limberg 8-seater chairlift on Schattberg in May 2023 marked the project’s second attempt, as explained by Operations Director Walter Steiner: “Back in 2020, all construction negotiations were completed, but the groundbreaking was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. After the construction work in the summer of 2023, we are now opening a state-of-the-art 8-seater chairlift at the start of the winter season. With a 1,412-metre route, the Limberg 8-seater is 513 metres longer than its predecessor. The valley station has been moved down, and the new section of the slope runs between Simalalm and Limbergalm. The valley station houses the piste equipment garage, and photovoltaic panels on the facade provide solar energy. The five wind turbines installed on the roof of the mountain station and the service building are an advanced energy innovation. The Limberg 8-seater transports up to 3,600 people per hour with its 66 seats, covering an altitude difference of 550 metres. Thanks to the additional slope section, it is a significant enhancement for the Schattberg mountain and the entire Skicircus.”
